WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS PREVIEW: Who will rule Game 1? Is it the Warriors or the Spurs?

The Golden State Warriors is set to face the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, May 14 for this year’s Western Conference Finals.

Much have been expected for the Warriors in the playoffs as they enter in the West’s Finals with a remarkable 8-0 record. They ended the First round of the conference with a 4-0 win against the Portland Trail Blazers with 25 pts as the largest lead on their Game 4 match-up last April 24.

The Warriors also dominated the Conference Semifinal against the Utah Jazz, 4-0. Draymond Green completed the 8-0 sweep with 17 pts, 10 rebounds, 11 assist in Game 4.

On one hand, the Spurs appeared to have a good play against the Memphis Grizzlies ending the first round with a 4-2 standing. The 2014 NBA Final Most Valuable Player, Kawhi Leonard headed the team with the highest points all through-out the first round.  Leonard scored 43 pts in Game 4 with 8 rebounds, 3 assist and 6 steal.

The Houston Rockets stormed the Spurs with a 27-point lead, 126-99 as Trevor Ariza scored 23 points, James Harden added 20 points and 14 rebounds last Monday night in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals. But the Spurs stood up and crumpled the Rockets in Game 2 and Game 3 respectively, 121-96 & 103-92.  Leonard and Aldridge scored 26 points apiece which helped Spurs to dominate Game 2 without Tony Parker.

In Game 6, the absence of Leonard didn’t muddle the Spurs to outsmart the Rockets with a 114-75 victory. Leonard was not able to play due to a sprained left ankle as they closed out the series though Jonathan Simmons took his place and delivered points.
